Camembert Électrique welcomes back OdNu with Thinking is Electric, Knowing is Magnetic, a new album by Argentine-born, New York-based sound artist Michel Mazza.
Inspired by a philosophical concept developed by polymath Walter Russell, the album explores the relationship between thinking as an active, outward force and knowing as an inner, centering source. Two complementary energies that find their way into the music itself.
Built from fractured guitar melodies, heavily processed loops and field recordings, Thinking is Electric, Knowing is Magnetic unfolds through a fascinating interplay of abstract textures and melodic fragments. Sounds emerge, overlap and dissolve, creating an atmosphere where memories, feelings and mysterious ideas seem to be encoded within the music.
Electric and magnetic, familiar and unfamiliar, the compositions move between experimental electronics, acoustic elements and cinematic soundscapes. Each piece feels like a fragment of a larger, elusive world, inviting the listener to discover its own connections and meanings.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now based in Hudson, New York, Michel Mazza is an audio and visual artist whose work spans electronic music composition, sound design and filmmaking. Working under the name OdNu, he has released numerous albums on labels including Audiobulb, Whitelabrecs, Driftworks and Shimmering Moods.
For this album, Michel takes an intimate and exploratory approach, using his studio as an instrument in its entirety. Electric and MIDI guitars, synthesizers, field recordings and electronic processing become the raw materials of a constantly evolving sonic experiment.
Thinking is Electric, Knowing is Magnetic is another intriguing journey into OdNu's distinctive musical universe.
