There is music that is written, and other music that simply appears.
This one clearly belongs to the second category.
At the beginning, there is not really a project.
Rather, there are trajectories that have been crossing paths for a long time, experiences accumulated in very different contexts — from progressive rock to pop, and into more experimental forms. A familiarity that does not pass through words, but through listening.
Then one day, they play.
Without a defined structure, without an imposed direction.
Only an extreme attentiveness to what circulates between them. A way of moving forward as a trio, where every gesture feels both unpredictable and perfectly in its place.
What is built is neither fully free nor truly written.
Forms emerge, transform, disappear. Some ideas take shape, others collapse almost immediately. What remains is this strange sensation of witnessing something that is decided in real time.
Not a demonstration.
Not a performance in the usual sense.
Rather, an exploration — fragile, tense, sometimes suspended.
The first album by LOBOS TRIO captures precisely this:
a space of improvisation where structure is never given, but constantly in the process of forming.
Perhaps the best way to approach it is not to try to understand it immediately.
Let things appear, then drift away.
Il y a des musiques qui s’écrivent, et d’autres qui apparaissent. Celle-ci appartient clairement à la seconde catégorie. Au départ, il n’y a pas vraiment de projet. Plutôt des trajectoires qui se croisent depuis longtemps, des expériences accumulées dans des contextes très différents — du rock progressif à la pop, en passant par des formes plus expérimentales. Une familiarité qui ne passe pas par les mots, mais par l’écoute. Puis un jour, ils jouent. Sans structure définie, sans direction imposée. Juste une attention extrême à ce qui circule entre eux. Une manière d’avancer à trois, où chaque geste semble à la fois imprévisible et parfaitement à sa place. Ce qui se construit alors n’est ni totalement libre, ni réellement écrit. Les formes émergent, se transforment, disparaissent. Certaines idées s’esquissent, d’autres s’effondrent presque aussitôt. Il reste cette sensation étrange d’assister à quelque chose qui se décide en temps réel. Pas une démonstration. Pas une performance au sens habituel. Plutôt une exploration — fragile, tendue, parfois suspendue. Le premier album de LOBOS TRIO capture précisément cela : un espace d’improvisation où la structure n’est jamais donnée, mais constamment en train de se former. Peut-être que la meilleure façon de l’aborder est de ne pas chercher à comprendre immédiatement. Laisser les choses apparaître, puis dériver.
